A Chicken Coop for Me to Dream About

This is one of the most unique and beautiful coops I have ever seen!  Although keeping chickens in Columbus was TURNED DOWN, I am still able to dream.

PIcking Up Where I left Off...

My son and I went on the Madison Coop Tour this weekend...and I am ready to get the ball rolling!

I need a number of suppporters and help putting together a presentation for City Hall. There are strength in numbers, and if I'm not the only "crazy" person wanting chickens, I believe they will take this more seriously.

Please contact me if you are interested in being a crazy chicken person in Columbus, WI!

The Answer is Maybe!

Terrific news Monday evening. A glimmer of hope is good news, isn't it? The alderperson for our district called me concerning chickens. In order to allow chickens, we must change the ordinance to allow them.

My task is to gather copies of other ordinances in the area that allow them, and prepare my presentation. When I have gathered my wits and my courage, I will call Alderman Bill to have me put on the agenda for the Committee of the Whole.

Anybody else in the Columbus, WI area want to come along for moral support? And verbal support, as I tend to say things in a perfunctory way when I'm nervous. Preparation is key! Can't wait! Please help!

The Answer is No

After two calls to City Hall (Anne) and no return calls, I emailed Jenny, District 2 Alder Woman.  Jenny was very prompt, which I appreciated.  She conferred with the City Attorney, the City Administrator, and the Mayor, and they all said "No chickens allowed."

Next steps...get in touch with my District 3 alderpersons.
