Terrific news Monday evening. A glimmer of hope is good news, isn't it? The alderperson for our district called me concerning chickens. In order to allow chickens, we must change the ordinance to allow them.
My task is to gather copies of other ordinances in the area that allow them, and prepare my presentation. When I have gathered my wits and my courage, I will call Alderman Bill to have me put on the agenda for the Committee of the Whole.
Anybody else in the Columbus, WI area want to come along for moral support? And verbal support, as I tend to say things in a perfunctory way when I'm nervous. Preparation is key! Can't wait! Please help!

I just talked to Ann at city hall about chickens in town (which was no) and than found your page today! I don't have time to read all the way through it but wanted to let you know I am very interested in this! Brenda

ReplyDeleteHello Kathy,
ReplyDeleteIf you would like, my email address is livin_happy05@yahoo.com. I will admit to being technology challenged so I am not sure how blogs work but feel free to email me with what I can do to help. What is the next step to get the ordinances changed? Thanks, Brenda
Here is a resource from Cincinnati locavore Valeree on what they did to convince officials on chickens there

Hi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteThe other day I was at the feed store in Columbus and one of the employees told me that chickens are allowed in Columbus. As long as it is only 4 of them. I am planning on getting some chicks next week (some silkies).
